I recently came across a single from emerging recording artist Carly Jamison that I absolutely love, called The Devil’s Trying to Bring Me Down. This song instantly grabbed me and made me think of it as something Robert Rodriguez or Quentin Tarantino would love. Seriously, this song could easily have been on the soundtracks for From Dusk Till Dawn,  Grindhouse, or Pulp Fiction.

Those who know me understand that I do not endorse performing artists lightly. In addition to being a music lover, I am also a musician and songwriter myself, and fully understand the vast, seemingly endless sea of musical talent out there, not all of which merits a nod.

Carly Jamison is one of the few exceptions. She has a gritty guitar sound, a solid vocal, and a true understanding of how to compose and arrange a piece of music.

To top it off, this song has popular foot-tapping appeal, so I just had to add it to my Halloween Dance Party playlist, although it would also be perfectly at home on my Halloween Rock playlist.
